Obituary of Ruth Ohlberg
Ruth B. Ohlberg, 88, of Jackson passed away on Friday, September 4, 2015 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Ruth was born in Freehold Borough and lived there until moving to Jackson in the 70s. She worked as a switchboard operator at Bell Telephone, Freehold Borough and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. Ruth loved decorating for and spending the holidays with her family, collecting snowmen, and was a dog and cat lover. Her greatest love in life was her role as nanny to her granddaughters.
Ruth was predeceased by her husband, George Ohlberg in 1979; two brothers, Lewis and Harry Bastedo; and her nephew, Donald Bastedo. She is survived by her daughter, Marianne Tavernese of Brick; two granddaughters, Valerie Tavernese of South River and Annette Tavernese of Brick; her brother, William Bastedo, Sr. of Jackson; her nephew, William Bastedo, Jr. and his wife, Risa, of Howell; and her grandniece, Tiffany Bastedo of Arizona.
A visitation will be held at Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 from 4:00 to 7:30 PM with her funeral service to follow at 7:30 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at 10:30 AM at the funeral home on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 for the procession to Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold.
