Obituary of Ethel Steen

Ethel Steen, 90, of Howell, died Friday, Sept. 5, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Mrs. Steen was born in Colts Neck, raised in Freehold Township, and had lived in Neptune before moving to Howell in 1957. She was a floor supervisor for Signal Light, Neptune, until her retirement in 1979. Prior to this, she worked for Blueberry Acres, Tinton Falls. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph H., in 2003. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Joseph C. and Maryann Steen of Buena Vista Township; a daughter, Barbara VanPelt and her companion Charles of Howell; three grandchildren, William Hausler of Howell, Michael Steen of New Egypt, and Joanne Steen of Beachwood; six great-grandchildren, Paige, Taylor, Amber, Randy, Carly, and Casey; a brother, Clarence Wilson of Howell; and a brother-in-law and his wife, William and Shirley Steen of Laurel, Del. Visiting hours will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Interment will follow in St. Rose of Lima Catholic Cemetery, Freehold.
