Obituary of Donald Gatsch
Donald Gatsch, 81, of Howell, died Saturday, Sept. 6, at home. Mr. Gatsch was born in Toms River and had lived in East Brunswick for 12 years and Colts Neck for 17 years before moving to Howell in 1983. He was a former member of the Board of Directors at Camp Arrowhead, Marlboro, where he was instrumental in building the pavilion and the ski tows. He was a past president and member of the Matawan Rotary Club and one of the founding members of the Hazlet Rotary Club. He was a recipient of the Paul Harris Fellow Award from Rotary International. Mr. Gatsch was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during World War II. Mr. Gatsch retired as a Division superintendent with JCP&L in 1983 after 36 years of service.
He was predeceased by his wife, Rosemarie, in March 2008. Surviving are a son, Donald E. Gatsch of Freehold; two daughters, Dona Sabo of Freehold, and Debra Davidoski of Okemos, Mich; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road, Freehold Township. Friends and relatives are invited to attend his funeral service at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Entombment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold.
