Obituary of Anthony Cristofaro
Anthony V. Cristofaro, 83, of Freehold Township passed away surrounded by his family on Thursday, October 15, 2015 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Tony was born and raised in the Bronx and had lived in Iselin and Edison before moving to Freehold Township in 1986. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during the Korean War. Tony retired in 1990, as a sales manager for Pitney Bowes, Cedar Knolls after thirty-five years of service. In retirement, he owned and operated Checkerboard Lawn Maintenance. Tony was a parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Church and a Mets Fan. He was a member of the American Federation of Musicians, Local 204-373. Tony was better known as the band leader of Tony Crist Orchestra.
Tony is survived by his wife of sixty years, Joan; his children, Mark Cristofaro and his wife, Suzanne of Schwenksville, PA and Gina Lupi of Freehold Township; a granddaughter, Julia Lupi; a sister, Camille LaRose and her husband, Louis of Rye, NY; a nephew, Louis LaRose, Jr. of Bedford, NY; and a niece, Maria McGlone of Boston, MA.
A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Monday, October 19, 2015 from 2:00 to 4:00 & 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Relatives and friends may gather at the funeral home on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at 9:00 AM for the Procession to his 10:00 AM Funeral Mass at St. Rose of Lima Church, 16 McLean Street, Freehold.
