Obituary of George McGhee

George McGhee, 66, of Jackson passed away on Wednesday, October 21, 2015, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. He was born in Neptune and raised in Freehold, eventually settling in Jackson in 1984. George was a supervisor at General Motors, New Brunswick for over 28 years. He was a car enthusiast and frequented the race track. George, a kind-hearted soul who loved people, enjoyed entertaining, barbecues and grilling his ribs. His larger than life personality will be missed. George was predeceased by his parents, George W. McGhee in 2002 and Clara McGhee in 2004. He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Theresa McGhee; two sons, Christopher McGhee and his wife, Kelly, and Jordan McGhee and his fiancée, Katie Mauro, all of Jackson; and his granddaughter, Myliah Hope, who was the light of his life. He is also survived by his brother, Reginald McGhee of Freehold; two sisters, Cheryl Hagood and her husband, Al, of Howell and Adria Gardner and her husband, Henry of Neptune; his half-sister, Tasia Richardson, of Virginia; three special sisters-in-law, Kerry Weldon and her husband, Jimi of Freehold, Kathy Lagno and her husband, Fran, of Salt Point, NY, and Lory Rasiewicz and her husband, Ed, of Manchester; three brothers-in-law, Michael O'Mara of Milford, CT, John O'Mara of Newport News, VA and David O'Mara and his wife, Kathy, of Old Bridge; two sisters-in-law, Jeanne O'Mara and Erin O'Mara, both of Freehold; two goddaughters; and a host of nieces, nephews and good friends. A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Sunday, October 25, 2015 from 1:00 to 5:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at 9:00 AM on Monday, October 26, 2015 at the funeral home for the procession to his 10:00 AM funeral service at Bethel AME Church, 3 Waterworks Road, Freehold.
