Obituary of Gunther Rimek
Gunther Rimek, 79, of Howell, passed away Sunday, November 8, 2015, at CentraState Medical Center in Freehold Township. He was born and raised in Germany, moved to the United States at the age of 20 settling into Somerset, before moving to Howell. Gunther provided dedicated service in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He worked as plant manager at Remee Products in Florida, NY for seven years before retiring in 2001. Gunther took pride making coffee for the customers at the Howell Wawa on Route 9 South. He had a soft spot for animals and children, and could make the best apple pancakes on the planet.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Elizabeth M. Kennedy, of Howell; three loving children, Colleen DeSena, of Howell, Gunther Rimek of Brick, and Christine Rimek, of Howell; and four cherished grandchildren, John DeSena, Lindsey DeSena, Ryan Rimek, and Meghan Rimek; and a dear sister, Edelgard Prinz, and her husband Gus, of Somerset.
A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold, on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 8:30 PM with his funeral service to be held at 8:30 PM.
