Obituary of S. Wayne Brocklebank
S. Wayne Brocklebank, 87, of Freehold passed away at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune on Thursday, November 12, 2015. Wayne was born in Neptune and was a lifelong Freehold resident. He was a graduate of Freehold High School where he played baseball and basketball. He then graduated from Rutgers College class of 1950 where he played lacrosse and was a member of the ROTC Program. After college, he was employed by Pratt & Whitney Aerospace Co. in East Hartford, CT. Wayne returned to Freehold to pursue his love of farming and was a mechanical engineer employed by Lakehurst Naval Air Station until retiring in 1989.
Wayne was a member and elder of the Jerseyville United Methodist Church and was a former member of the Monmouth County Election Board.
His wife Louise "Delatush" Brocklebank died in 2004. Surviving is one son, Eric Brocklebank of Freehold; two daughters, Joanne and her husband Bruce Goldberg of Freehold, and Caryn Brocklebank of Paoli, PA; two grandchildren, Dara Laine and her husband, Andy Murray of Baltimore, MD, and Thomas Brocklebank Goldberg of Ocean Grove.
A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524) Freehold Township on Monday, November 16, 2015 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at the Jerseyville United Methodist Church, 8 Howell Road, Howell. Burial will follow at Adelphia Cemetery, Adelphia. In lieu of flowers, donations in Wayne's memory may be made to Jerseyville United Methodist Church, 8 Howell Road, Freehold, NJ 07728.
