Obituary of Billy Gibson
Billy L. Gibson, 75, of Farmingdale, died Monday, Sept. 29, at home. Mr. Gibson was born and raised in Elizabeth, W.Va. and had lived in Oakhurst and Wall before settling in Farmingdale in 1975. Mr. Gibson was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Signal Corps at Fort Monmouth. He was an engineer in the Research and Development of aviation electronics at the Hexagon at Fort Monmouth. Mr. Gibson was the owner/operator of Gibson Air Academy at Monmouth Airport and continued as a Federal Aviation Administration examiner. He was a member of the Pierce Memorial Presbyterian Church, Farmingdale. Mr. Gibson was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association, the Jersey Aero Club, and the American Legion Post 178, Farmingdale.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Glyde and Glenn Gibson; and a sister, Gladys Gibson. Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Carol Gibson; a son, Scott Gibson of Farmingdale; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Martin DeVries of North Hanover; nine grandchildren, Luke, Paul, Timothy, Daniel, David, Caleb, Rachel, Grace, and Thomas; and two sisters, Bonnie Powell of Elizabeth, W.Va., and Betsy Stone of Olive Branch, Miss.
Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at 11 a.m. Friday at Pierce Memorial Presbyterian Church, 40 Main St., Farmingdale, NJ 07727.
