Obituary of Charles Pekar
Charles G. "Chuck" Pekar, 66, of Farmingdale passed away on Monday, December 14, 2015 with his family at his side. He was born in Scranton, PA, raised in Matawan, and moved to Macungie 10 years ago, prior to settling in Farmingdale this year. Chuck was a U.S. Navy veteran. He worked for PCI in Macungie as a pharmaceutical packaging manager, and for Cardinal Health in Somerset. He enjoyed cooking, Thanksgiving being his favorite holiday, and was a real grill master. He was a former parishioner and member of the Knights of Columbus of St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Allentown, PA, and most recently became a parishioner and member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, Farmingdale.
Chuck was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Marilyn Pekar. He is survived by his beloved wife of 17 years, Joan Pekar, of Farmingdale; his children, John O'Neill and his wife, Valerie, of Freehold Township, Joseph Pekar and his wife, Beth, of Florida, Jennifer O'Neill and her husband, Tristan van Gendt, of Hoboken, Jennifer Quigley and her husband, Sean, of Upper Darby, PA and Jaclyn Calabrese and her husband, Paul, of Oakhurst; ten grandchildren, John, Taylor, Josie, Codey, Lucas, Paige, Brooke, Katie, Ryan and Andrew; one brother, Kevin Pekar and his wife, Betsy, of Boston, MA; and one niece, Alexandra Marie Pekar.
Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Thursday, December 17, 2015 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at 10:00 AM on Friday, December 18, 2015 at the funeral home for the procession to his 11:00 AM Funeral Mass at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 31 Asbury Road, Farmingdale. Interment will follow in St. Rose of Lima Catholic Cemetery, Freehold-Englishtown Road, Freehold Township.
