Obituary of Carmella Strumolo

Carmella Strumolo, 84, of Howell passed away at home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, December 22, 2015. Carmella was born and raised in Newark and had lived in Edison and Lakewood before moving to Howell. She was a former parishioner of St. Helena Catholic Church, Edison. Carmella enjoyed shopping and lunch with her daughters and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph S. Strumolo; a daughter, Karen Gotz ; a granddaughter, Stephanie Gotz; a brother, Frank Conti; and two sisters, Madeline Maiorano and Anna Piotti. Carmella is survived by three daughters, Valerie Mauro and her husband, Tom of Middletown, Joni Merola and her husband, John of East Brunswick and Debbie Corio-Monaco and her husband, Michael Monaco of Howell; nine grandchildren, Tommy Mauro and his wife, Nicole, Joseph Merola, Jonathan Merola, Philip Merola, Deanna Corio, Danielle Corio, Dana Corio, Christopher Gotz and Kevin Gotz; a son-in-law, Tom Gotz of Freehold; and countless nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Monday, December 28, 2015 from 2:00 to 4:00 & 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Relatives and friends may gather at the funeral home on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at 8:30 AM for the procession to St. Helena Catholic Church, 950 Grove Avenue, Edison for her 10:00 AM Funeral Mass.
