Obituary of Kathryn Amalfa
Kathryn E. Amalfa, 83, of Lakewood passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 24, 2015 at Ocean Medical Center at Brick. Kay was born in Freehold, was raised in Farmingdale and had lived in Brick before moving to Lakewood in 1988. She retired as a board secretary for the Brick Board of Education in 1992 with over thirty-five years of service. Kay was an active member of the Brick Presbyterian Church. She bowled at the Ocean Lanes, liked her trips to A.C, and enjoyed the beach at Manasquan. Kay lived an active lifestyle in the Lions Head Woods community. She was an avid reader and liked to walk. Kay was a devoted wife, loving mother, and doting grandma.
Kay was predeceased by her brother, Franklyn Ellis. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Nicholas Amalfa; three children, Lois Roche and her husband, Vincent of Brick, Donald Amalfa and his wife, Janice of Little Egg Harbor and Carol Gundel and her husband, Frank of Brick; five grand children, Michael Burns and his wife, Jamie, Justin Burns, William Amalfa, Kaitlyn Gundel, and Kristofer Gundel.
Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Sunday, January 3, 2016 from 2:00 to 6:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her 11:00 AM funeral service at the funeral home on Monday, January 4, 2016. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Farmingdale.
