Obituary of Estelle Coffey
Estelle M. "Tully" Coffey, 90, of Farmingdale passed away on January 13, 2016 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. She was born and raised in Perth Amboy, moved to Edison, and settled in Farmingdale in 1965. Estelle was a secretary for Coffey Brothers Construction, Howell for over 20 years. She loved baking cakes and cookies, and traveling. Estelle enjoyed crafts, knitting, ceramic, crocheting and woodworking. At 65 years young, she learned to downhill ski. Family meant everything to Estelle, and she dedicated her life to raising her kids and volunteering in her community. Among many things, she was a cub/boy scout leader and a brownie/girl scout leader, Farmingdale Howell soccer coach, Farmingdale historical society, Farmingdale Planning Board and a member of the Farmingdale Parade Committee. A parishioner of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, a life member of the Farmingdale Elementary School PTA; and a member of the Joshua House interfaith organization and served on the Board of Evergreen Cemetery.
Estelle was predeceased by her husband, Francis T. Coffey in 1987; her son, Patrick Coffey in 2003; a sister, Gladys Samsoe in 2012; and a brother, Lee Samsoe in 2008. She is survived by six children, Kevin Coffey and his wife, Patricia, of Millstone, Sean Coffey and his wife, Kim of Manasquan, Maryfrances Rote and her husband, Steve, of Lambertville; Christopher Coffey of Farmingdale, James Coffey and his wife, Jennifer, of Millstone, and MaryTheresa Littlefield and her husband, Duncan, of Millstone; fourteen grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and one on the way; her brother, Arthur Samsoe of Edison; and a sister, Frances Lewis of Stowe, PA.
Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Sunday, January 17, 2016 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her 10:00 AM funeral service on Monday, January 18, 2016 at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Howell.
