Obituary of James Tucker
James E. Tucker Sr., 81, of Middletown, died Wednesday, Oct. 22, at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Mr. Tucker was born in Manhattan, N.Y. and had lived in Bogota for 13 years, moving to Colts Neck, where he lived for 25 years and moving to Middletown 16 years ago. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during World War II. Mr. Tucker was a former member of the Knights of Columbus, Bogota. Mr. Tucker received his B.S. in Business Administration from Iona College. Mr. Tucker was the Director of Advertising & Sales Promotion for the Overseas Division of General Motors, New York City for over 30 years. After retiring from General Motors, he became the National Advertising Manager for Fiat. Following that, Mr. Tucker was the Government Representative for Worthington Pump Co., Harrison.
He was predeceased by his wife, Marie Margaret "Peg", in 1991; and two brothers, Patrick and Francis Tucker. Surviving are three sons, James E. Tucker Jr. of Dover, N.H., Robert M. Tucker of Rochester, N.Y., and John Tucker of Howell; a daughter, Patricia Oliver of Middletown; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township. His funeral service will be held Saturday morning at the funeral home at a time to be announced. Committal service will follow in Monmouth Memorial Park, Tinton Falls.
