Obituary of Sam Palmieri

Sam J. Palmieri, 86, of Freehold, died Monday, Oct. 27, at Robert Wood Johnson University Medical Center, New Brunswick. Mr. Palmieri was born in New York City and had lived in the Port Richmond section of Staten Island before moving to Freehold 22 years ago. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during World War II in the Southern Philippines where he received many medals. He was a member of District Local 37, Manhattan. He was a former manager of the West Shore Little League, Staten Island. He was a member of the Freehold Township Senior Center. Mr. Palmieri worked for the New York City Parks Department at the South Shore Country Club until his retirement in 1981. Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Marie Palmieri; one son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Barbara Palmieri of Freehold Township; one daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Bill Cea of Freehold Township; three grandchildren, Megan Brand, David Cea and Andrew Palmieri; one great-grandson, Sean Brand Jr.; one sister, Anna Trembone of Arizona; and one sister-in-law, Sophie Palmieri of Staten Island. Visiting will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township. Relatives and friends may gather at 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home for the Rite of Committal, followed by his 10 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township.
