Obituary of Rita Ostermiller

Rita M. Ostermiller, 71, of Howell Township, returned to the Lord on Sunday, Nov. 2 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Newark and had lived in Edison before settling in Howell Township in 1993. Mrs. Ostermiller was an office clerk for Middlesex County Multiple Listing System before her retirement. Rita was loved and cherished by her fellow parishioners at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, where she served as Sacristan for many years. She was predeceased by her brother, William Meehan, in 1986. Surviving are her husband of 49 years, Peter W. Ostermiller, Sr. of Howell; one son, Peter W. Ostermiller, Jr., of Howell; two daughters: Rita Marie Ostermiller Lewandowski and her husband Thomas G., of Oak Ridge, N.C., Mary E. Whiteman and her husband, James D., of Riverview, Fla.; five grandchildren: Lori Ann, Rita Marie, Thomas Joseph, Kenneth James and Jonathon James. Visiting will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Rite of Committal at the funeral home on Wednesday at 8 a.m. A 9 a.m. funeral Mass will follow at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 31 Asbury Road, Farmingdale.
