Obituary of William Duffy
William Duffy, 77, of Freehold, died Wednesday, Nov. 5 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Mr. Duffy was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. and was a resident of the Canarsie Section until moving to The Villages in 1993. He attended St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, Freehold Township. Mr. Duffy was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during the Korean conflict. He was a volunteer at the CentraState Medical Center Thrift Shop, Freehold. He was also a member of The Villages Men's Club. He was a film inspector for the U.S. Navy Motion Picture Service, Brooklyn, for over 30 years retiring in 1992. After his retirement, he became a school crossing guard in Freehold Boro.
Surviving is his wife of 54 years, Agnes Donohue Duffy, of Freehold; one son and one daughter-in-law, Patrick C. and Adele Duffy of San Marcos, Calif., two daughters and two sons-in-law, Deborah and Joseph Galea, of Jackson, Maureen and Dennis Gahagan of Jackson; seven grandchildren, Jessica, Anthony, Katherine, Colleen, Victoria, Mary Kate and Patrick; two sisters, Elizabeth Salerno and Henrietta McCann, both of Lindenhurst, N.Y.
Visiting will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road, Freehold Township. Relatives and friends may gather at 11:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home for the Rite of Committal followed by his 12:30 p.m. funeral mass at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township.
