Obituary of Carmela Vecchio

Carmela "Terry" Vecchio, 89, of Howell Township, NJ passed away surrounded by her family at home on Monday, April 9, 2012. Terry was born in Newark, NJ and was raised in Elizabeth, NJ and had lived in the Westerleigh section of Staten Island, NY before moving to Howell Township, NJ in 2005. She was a beautician in Newark until marrying. Terry was a long time and former parishioner of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Staten Island, NY. She was predeceased by her husband, Frank Vecchio; a son, Salvatore Vecchio; a brother, Joseph DeSarno; and a son-in-law, Robert Forlenza. Terry is survived by two daughters, Fran L. DeNaro and her husband, Dominick of Howell Twp, NJ and Michele Forlenza of Union, NJ; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Vecchio of Staten Island, NY; eight grandchildren, Deana Vecchio, Michael Vecchio, Janine Vecchio, Robert Forlenza, Anthony Forlenza, Jenna DeNaro, Dominick DeNaro, and Christopher DeNaro; three sisters, Mary Ciacciarelli of Union, NJ, Louise Spallone of Madison, NJ and Angie Boehmer of Madison, NJ. Visiting at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township, NJ on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Relatives and friends may gather at the funeral home on Thursday, April 12, 2012 at 9:15 AM for the procession to the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 1091 Forest Ave., Staten Island, NY for her 11:00 AM Funeral Mass. Interment will follow in St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery, Staten Island, NY.
