Obituary of Joan Werner

Joan J. Werner, 78, of Freehold Township, died Saturday, Nov. 15 at the Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune. Mrs. Werner was born in Brooklyn and had lived there until moving to Freehold Township in 1993. She was a time keeper for the City of New York, retiring in 1995. Mrs. Werner was a parishioner of St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church and a member of the Senior Center, both of Freehold Township. She was predeceased by four brothers and three sisters. Surviving are her husband of 55 years, Harold Werner, of Freehold Township; eight sons and seven daughters-in-law, Harold and Carol Werner III, of Bell Harbor, N.Y., Christopher and Patti Werner, of Islip Terrace, N.Y., Justin and Ann Marie Werner, of Neponsit, N.Y., Brendan and Ginny Werner, of Massapequa, N.Y., Thomas and Irene Werner, of Islip Terrace, N.Y., Timothy and Angela Werner, of Bronx, N.Y., Kenneth Werner of Queens, N.Y., and Kevin and Mary Werner, of Farmingdale; 22 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter. Visiting will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Clayton and McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road, Route 524, Freehold Township. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Rite of Committal on Wednesday, at the funeral home followed by her funeral Mass at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township, times to be announced. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Brooklyn. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Joan may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
