Obituary of Dorothy Kmetz Magni

Dorothy Kmetz Magni, 85, of Freehold Township, died Sunday, Nov. 23, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township, surrounded by her family. Mrs. Magni was born in Yonkers, N.Y. and had lived there before moving to Freehold Township in 1993. She was a former member of St. Casimir's Catholic Church, Yonkers. Mrs. Magni was a volunteer with Senior First at Applewood Estates, Freehold Township. She was a member of the Scarlett Rouses of Freehold, the Silvermead Senior Group and was active with the Freehold Twp. Seniors. Mrs. Magni was a graduate of Commerce High School, Yonkers. She was a nurses' volunteer in Yonkers during World War II. Mrs. Magni was an Administrative Assistant with the Buildings and Grounds Dept. of the Board of Education, Yonkers, N.Y. Prior to that, she was an Assistant Editor with McCall's magazine and an Import/Export Administrator for H. Weiss Co., Yonkers. She was predeceased by her husband, Andrew E., in 1983; and a brother, Edward J. Kmetz Sr., in 1992. Surviving are a son, Lawrence A. Magni of The Woodlands, Texas; a daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Donald E. Winant of Dumont; two granddaughters, Jennifer A. Winant and Kimberly A. Winant; a brother, Frank S. Kmetz of Brooklyn, N.Y.; an aunt, Estelle Engelhardt of Yonkers, N.Y.; and many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 1 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township. Visitation will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Duchynski-Cherko Funeral Home, 111 Yonkers Ave., Yonkers, N.Y. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. at St. Casimir's Catholic Church, 239 Nepperhan Ave., Yonkers, N.Y. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Yonkers, N.Y.
