Obituary of Angel Ortiz
Angel "Ray" Ortiz, 92, of Howell passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at New Jersey Veterans Memorial Home, Edison. Ray was born in Puerto Rico, moved to New Jersey as a youth and lived in Manchester, Sayreville, Newark and Manhattan before settling in Freehold in 2013. Ray was an Army veteran of World War II serving as a Surgical Tech in Central Europe. After being honorably discharged, he went on to work for Weldetron in Piscataway as a Supervisor of Assembly until retiring in 1992.
Ray was predeceased by his wife, Lydia Ortiz; son, Rene Ortiz; and brother, Robert Ortiz. He is survived by his son, Paul Ortiz and his wife, Jeanne; two daughters, Laura Knaster and her husband, David, and Diana Smith and her husband, Bruce; eight grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Monday, April 25, 2016 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his 11:00 AM graveside service on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at Brigadier General Wm. C. Doyle NJ Veterans Cemetery, Arneytown.
