Obituary of Harriet Guice
Harriet "Tootsie" M. Guice, 91, of Brick, died Friday, Dec. 12, at Brandywine Assisted Living, Brick. Harriet was born in Howell. She graduated from Lakewood High School in 1937, where she met her husband, Bill. They married and had two children and lived in Farmingdale for many years. Her husband died in 1977. Harriet then met Ralph Forcier Jr. and they moved into her dream home on the river in Brick and had lived there for 35 years, where they enjoyed the good life. They both loved to party and travel. Harriet moved to Brandywine in 2004. She worked as a bartender and waitress at Walt's Pine Inn, Brick, retiring in 1976. Prior to that, she drove a school bus and was a bookkeeper for her husband oil business. Mrs. Guice was a former member of the Squankum Methodist Church and the Squankum Star Club, both of Howell. She was also a member of the American Legion Post 348, Brick.

She was predeceased by her brother, Charles Van Schoick Jr., in 2008; and her dear friend, Ralph Forcier Jr., in 2005. Surviving are a son, Robert E. Guice and his partner, Richard Esparza of Novato, Calif.; a daughter, Carol Gardell and her husband Bob of Wall; two grandchildren, Lynn Chisholm and her husband Dave of Voorhees, and Robert Gardell of Freehold Township; and five great-grandchildren, Nicole, Jack, and Lauren Chisholm of Voorhees, and Briana and Kaela Gardell of Freehold Township.
Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 534), Freehold Township. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral services at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Farmingdale.
