Olga Mishkovsky

Obituary of Olga Mishkovsky

Olga Mishkovsky, 88, of Voorhees, passed away Sunday, May 22, 2016 surrounded by her family. She was born in Pančevo, Yugoslavia of Russian emigre parents. A remarkable lady had an eventful and productive life. As a young girl, she survived being a forced child laborer and as wartime refugee under the harsh Nazis. She was forcibly taken from her parents with a younger sister in her care. This was during the perilous last three years of World War II. She lived throughout Eastern and Central Europe during that time, struggling to survive. In 1949, Olga came to the United States, married and raised three sons, all the while working as a seamstress and dressmaker. Later in her career, she was recognized for her skill, and made prototype dresses for the famous Albert Nipon designer studio. Her dresses, personally sewn, were worn by Nancy Reagan and Natalie Wood. She was kind, selfless, and always ready to burst into song. She had boundless energy. Her family gave her much joy, and she gave us so much love in return. She was predeceased by her husband, Victor Mishkovsky, in 2002. Olga is survived by her three sons: Alex Mishkovsky and his wife, Mary Raukko, of Columbus, Lee Mishkovsky and his wife, Robin, of Egg Harbor, and Walt Mishkovsky and his wife, Lisa, of Pittstown; eight grandchildren; and six great grandchildren; a sister, Vera Samedov, of Vineland; a nephew, Andrew Vergiza and his wife, Pamela, of Voorhees; and many loving nieces and nephews. Rest easy, Dearest Olga. You will always be loved and always be remembered. ------ Friends and relatives are invited to attend her 10:00 AM Funeral Service on Friday, May 27, 2016 at St. Mary's R.O.
