Obituary of Augustus Salud

Dr. Augustus F. Salud, 72, of Howell Township passed away surrounded by his family at CareOne, Jackson on Wednesday, April 25, 2012. Dr. Salud was born in Dumalag, Capiz, Philippines and came to the U.S. in 1966 settling in the Bronx. He lived in Bensalem, PA before moving to Howell Twp. in 1983. Dr. Salud was a graduate of San Beda High School and received his Bachelor of Science degree from San de Letran College, and his Doctorate degree from The University of Santo Tomas, all in the Philippines. He served his medical residency at NYU Medical Center and Fordham Hospital and had worked at Misericodia Hospital & Montefiore Medical Center in Bronx, NY; Warminster Hospital, Warminster, PA; Helene Fuld Medical Center, Trenton, NJ; and Mount Vernon Hospital, Mt. Vernon, NY. Dr. Salud retired as a Trauma Surgeon in 2004. He was a member of the American Medical Association and was an avid marksman who loved to target shoot. Dr. Salud was a parishioner of The Church of St. Veronica, Howell Twp. Dr. Salud was predeceased by his first wife, Preciosa Punsal Salud in 1967; six brothers; and a sister. He is survived by his wife, of thirty-six years, Lilia Arana Salud; four sons, Robert Salud and his wife, Jomarie of Jackson, Richard Salud and his wife, Linda of Howell Twp, Augustus Z. Salud and his wife, Ellen of Afghanistan, and Augustus S. Salud of Jersey City, NJ; three daughters, Marie Rose Martinez and her husband, Carlo of Sacramento, CA, Marie Paz Lapitan of Massapequa, NY, and Marie Annette Jones and her husband, Christopher of Bridgewater; fourteen grandchildren; four brothers; and a sister. Visiting at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Sunday, April 29, 2012 from 12:00 to 4:00 PM. Relatives and friends may gather at the funeral home on Monday, April 30, 2012 at 8:00 AM for the procession to St. Veronica's Catholic Church, 4215 Route 9 North, Howell Township for his 9:00 AM Funeral Mass.
