Obituary of Charles Helfrich
Charles M. Helfrich, 84, of Wall Township, died Thursday, Dec. 18. 2008 at Manor By The Sea, Ocean Grove. Mr. Helfrich was born in Neptune Twp. and had lived in West Belmar and Wall Twp. He was an auto mechanic for P.W. Shermann, Asbury Park. Prior to that, he was a truck driver for Sambol Construction, Asbury Park. Mr. Helfrich was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during World War II and landing on Normandy Beach during the D-Day invasion. He served throughout the European Theatre with the 3609th Quartermaster Truck Company.
He is survived by two daughters, Shirley A. Kazlauskas of Howell Twp. and Patti Jean Clancy of Springhill, Fla.; three sons, Charles Peter Helfrich of Springville, Utah, William Allen Helfrich of Perry, Ark. and Michael Dean Helfrich of Barnegat; 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and many great-great-grandchildren; one brother, William Helfrich of Las Vegas, Nev.; and four sisters, Margurite Newman of Wall Twp., Catherine Maddocks of Wall Twp., Dorothy Dombrowski of San Diego, Calif. and Linda Denton of Pennsylvania.
Visiting will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road, Freehold Twp., with his funeral service at 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
