Obituary of Daniel Rovner

Daniel Abraham Rovner, age 57 left us on June 15, 2016 peacefully, in comfort, and surrounded by his family. He was a loving Husband, Father, Brother and Friend. Born in Irvington, NJ to Sheldon and Doris Rovner, Danny was a unique and caring individual who touched the lives of all who knew him with his laid-back personality, calm demeanor, thoughtfulness, and great sense of humor. Danny grew up in Old Bridge and went on to complete his Bachelor's Degree at Rowan University (formally Glassboro State College). Soon after, he met Karen Levy, the love of his life and they married in 1991. Together, they had two extraordinary fun loving children, Rachel Evelyn and Zackary Joseph. Danny is survived by his wife, children, sister Susan Anna Rovner Rowe, (Kendall Park), brother David Alfred Rovner, (Hopewell), cousins Michele Rovner (Chicago), Richard Rovner (Chicago), Marv Rovner (Uncle-Chicago), Audrey Rovner (Aunt-Chicago) along with several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews. Danny was totally dedicated to his family in all aspects of their lives. He coached Rachel at Howell Pinelanders Recreational Soccer League, as well coaching Zack in both the Howell Recreation Basketball League, and the North Howell Baseball Little League for many years. Danny enjoyed attending all his children's events - be it games, talent shows or recitals. Over the years, Danny could also be seen at many nieces and nephews' basketball games and concerts. Danny played baseball in the Sayrewood South Mens Baseball League for 7 years, and prior to that played in several baseball and softball leagues. Danny was an avid participant in several fantasy football and fantasy baseball leagues with uncanny success, and was always quick to reply to league players with his style of humor. He enjoyed playing poker with his friends, also with uncanny success. Danny loved life and was a big NY Giants and NY Mets fan. Dan worked for JP Morgan Chase as a programmer analyst for over 30 years. Dan was determined to win his battle with cancer and stayed positive and hopeful even on his darkest days. Danny had a lot of great qualities but his most appealing was his ability to get people comfortable with his wit. He could always be counted on to have a quick-witted response but never an unkind word. The absolute best thing about Danny was his everlasting love for his wife and children. Danny is in a better place looking down at his wife and kids. As the darkness begins to unfold at some point, Danny will be there leading the way for them into the light. The love never fades, but will live on forever. A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Friday, June 17, 2016 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at 9:00 AM for procession to his 10:00 AM Funeral Mass at St. Catherine of Siena Chapel, 1 North Main Street, Farmingdale. Interment will follow in St. Anne's Cemetery, Wall. For those who desire, memorial contributions in Dan's name may be made to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, One Robert Wood Johnson Place, New Brunswick, NJ 08901.
