Obituary of Sharon Costello

Sharon Costello, 49, of Howell passed away peacefully on Monday, June 20, 2016. She was born in Jersey City, raised in Carlstadt and had resided in Howell for the past 18 years. A graduate of North Carolina Wesleyan College, she received her Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice. She was a paralegal in Secaucus and Princeton before becoming a full-time homemaker. A sports enthusiast, Sharon bowled, played basketball, volleyball and softball in high school. She was a member of the 1000th point club at Becton High School, East Rutherford where she earned twelve Varsity letters, and went on to play softball in college. Sharon could be found courtside or at the baseball fields, where she was an ardent supporter of her boys' teams, always taking pictures of her two handsome sons. She was a parishioner of the Church of St. Veronica, and her strong faith sustained her through her illness. Sharon was known for her mixing skills as a DJ for sweet 16 parties, school functions and charities, including Kicks for Kids, a charity near and dear to her heart that honors the memory of her friend Madi. She could always be counted on, whether volunteering at school, through charities, or supporting her friends. Sharon always had their back. Her warm spirit and dazzling smile captured the hearts of everyone she met, and she will be missed by all she leaves behind. She remained strong until the very end, her grace and strength an inspiration to us all. Summing up a life is an awesome responsibility, and there is no finer way to sum up Sharon's than to say she was loved and supported by so many in this terrible battle. She will be forever remembered as the beautiful and brave warrior that she was. She will forever be missed and she will never be forgotten. Its hard to imagine not seeing her beautiful face, but take solace in that she is no longer suffering. She is preceded in death by her brother, William Fitzpatrick, Jr. Sharon is survived by her soulmate, her husband of 18 years, Sean Costello; two boys, Sean Costello, Jr. and Ryan Costello; parents, William and Gloria Fitzpatrick of Carlstadt; brother, Michael Fitzpatrick and his wife, Dena of Oakland; sister, Colleen Majowicz and her husband, Edward, of Carlstadt; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends, all of whom she could not have made this journey without. Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her 9:30 AM Funeral Mass on Thursday, June 23, 2016 at the Church of St. Veronica, 4215 Route 9 North, Howell. Entombment will follow in St. Gabriel's Cemetery and Chapel Mausoleum, Marlboro. For those who desire, memorial contributions to the family for the boys' education would be appreciated.
