Obituary of Arne Andresen

Arne Andresen, 83, of Farmingdale, passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, with his family by his side. He was born in the city of Al in Norway. Arne moved to the United States in 1960, settling in Farmingdale five years ago. He was a dedicated tugboat captain for 35 years for Bushard and Morania in Staten Island. Arne had a passion for traveling and has been all over the world with Overseas Adventure Travel, The Sir Edmund Hillary Club. He was an amazing woodworker, had a great sense of humor always knowing when to crack a joke, was very polite, and never forgot to say thank you. Arne will always be remembered with a smile. Arne was predeceased by his grandson, Timothy Adametz, in 2010. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Virginia Andresen, of Farmingdale; two children, Christine Adametz and her husband, James, of Farmingdale, and Paul Andresen and his wife, Marlene, of Hillsborough; and four grandchildren, Jessica Adametz, Sarah Adametz, Kimberly Andresen, and Steven Andresen. A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at 4:00 PM with his funeral service beginning at 7:30 PM in the funeral home. Entombment will be held on Monday, July 18, 2016 at 10:00 AM in Whiting Memorial Park, County Road 530, Manchester Township. For those who desire, memorial contributions in Arne's name may be made to the Popcorn Park Zoo, 1 Humane Way, Forked River, NJ 08731.
