Obituary of Kathleen Celine Cassidy
Kathleen Celine Cassidy, 80, of Freehold passed away at CareOne at Wall surrounded by her loved ones on Thursday, July 21, 2016. She was born on Bridge Street, County Cavan, Ireland and came to the United States in 1956. She lived in Woodside, Queens and Old Bridge where she raised her family, before settling in Freehold in 2002. Celine worked for the Old Bridge Township School System and as a Clerk in the Old Bridge Township Building Department for 22 years. She was a former active parishioner of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, Old Bridge and a current parishioner of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, Farmingdale and St. Sebastian's Catholic Church, Florida. A snowbird six months of the year, she had a home in Barefoot Bay, Florida where she belonged to the Irish American Club. As a member of the Brunswick Shamrock Club, she loved Irish dancing and music. Celine enjoyed sewing, knitting, playing 25, and spending time with her grandchildren.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Rev. Patrick Donohoe and John Donohoe; a sister, Margaret Brady; and two brothers-in-law, Stanley Ridley and Eddie Reilly. Kathleen is survived by her adoring husband of 56 years, Peter F. Cassidy; four children, Peter J. Cassidy and his wife, Kathleen, of Glen Rock, Bernadette Bishop and her husband, Dave, of Wayne; Kathleen Hobbs and her husband, Kevin, of Freehold Township, and Siobhan McGovern and her husband, Tim, of Manalapan; twelve grandchildren, Tara, Peter and Aidan Cassidy, David, Ryan and Kyle Bishop, Ashley, Kevin and Claire Hobbs, Shannon, Colleen and Kelly McGovern; siblings, Anna Ridley of England, Essie Reilly, Noel Donohoe and his wife, Mary, Eamon Donohoe and his wife, Gladys, and Alice Cusack and her husband, Noel, all residing in Ireland; in-laws, Eddie Brady of Ireland and Helga Donohoe of Florida; numerous nieces and nephews, loving in-laws; and friends.
Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Sunday, July 24, 2016 from 1:00 to 5:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at 8:45 AM on Monday, July 25, 2016 at the funeral home for the procession to her 10:15 AM Funeral Mass at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 333 Route 18, South, Old Bridge. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick.
