Obituary of Theodore Stejakowski
Theodore "Ted" A. Stejakowski, 76, of Howell, died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2009, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. Mr. Stejakowski was born in Newark and had lived there before moving to Howell in 1982. Mr. Stejakowski was a parishioner of St. William the Abbott, Howell. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, serving during the Korean War. Mr. Stejakowski was a member of the Essex County PBA, Local 54. He was a Deputy Chief of the Essex County Police Department and at the time of his retirement in 1986 with over 30 years of service, Mr. Stejakowski was the Acting Chief of the Department.
He was predeceased by his wife, Lucy, in 2000. Surviving are a son, Steven Stejakowski of Howell; a daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Gary Saliski of Howell; a sister-in-law, Florence Davis of Hillside; and two granddaughters, Tracey and Lauren Saliski.
Visiting hours will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, 2009 at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road, Freehold Township. Relatives and friends may gather Monday, Feb. 2, 2009, for the Rite of Committal at 8:45 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by his 10 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. William the Abbott Catholic Church, 2740 Lakewood Allenwood Road, Howell. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Toms River.
