Obituary of Joyce Bartis

Joyce A. Bartis, age 54, of Jackson, died suddenly on Thursday, Feb. 5, 2009, at CentraState Medical Center in Freehold, with her family by her side. Mrs. Bartis was born in Neptune and had lived in Ocean Grove and Wall before moving to Jackson in 1993. She was a court stenographer for State Short Hand, Ocean Township, for over 30 years. Mrs. Bartis was an active parishioner at St. Michael's Episcopal Church, Wall, where she was a long-time Sunday School Teacher. She was an avid bowler and loved watching her daughter's activities. She was a graduate of Mt. Carmel Grammar School, Class of 1968, and St. Rose High School, Class of 1972. She was predeceased by her father, William Long. She is survived by her husband, Bob Bartis of Jackson; her daughter, Amanda Bartis of Jackson; her mother, Marjorie Long of Neptune City; her sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Doug Cleary of Tinton Falls; and her nieces and nephews, Jillian and Rachel Cleary, Becky and Eric Hibbert, Matthew and Timothy Soovajian, and Katelyn and Brett Sauve. Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Rd. (Route 524), Freehold, N.J. on Monday, Feb. 9, 2009, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friends and relatives are invited to attend her Funeral Service at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2009, at St. Michael's Episcopal Church, 3204 Woodfield Ave., Wall, N.J. 07719.
