Obituary of Idabelle McQueen

Ida Belle McQueen, 94, of Howell, died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2009, at home. Mrs. McQueen was born Oct. 14, 1914 in Dozier, Crenshaw County, Ala. and was the daughter of the late George Evans Cox and the late Callie Parker Cox. Mrs. McQueen moved to the Ardena section of Howell in 1942. McQueen Boulevard, in Howell was named in her honor. She was a housekeeper and dear friend of the Stromwasser Family and then the Bathgate Family until her retirement in 1986. During this time, a span of over 40 years, Ida Belle was a caregiver and surrogate grandmother to all of those who entered the home. She was predeceased by her husband, William McQueen, in 1978. She leaves behind a legion of loving cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who will always remember her warm spirit, infectious personality, sharp intelligence, and quiet dignity. Visiting hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, 2009 at Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009 at the funeral home, with Rev. Caleb Oates officiating.
