I was one of Dan's classmates from SVA. I wanted to send my deepest sympathies to you all for your loss. I only just heard the news today. I only spent a year with Dan, and wish it could have been more. He always brought so much happiness with him whenever we saw him. He made such a difference being a part of our program and I know that he was and would continue to be an amazing teacher. Please know that all of us who spent last year with him are thinking of you all during this time.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss, I am overwhelmed for I have just heard the news. Dan was a friend of mine I met through Todd Lebowitz at FIT. We became better friends over the past couple years, was my neighbor in Brooklyn, he is a wonderful person whom I will miss dearly. Angleo, I really don't know what to say. I just heard about your loss from my older brother John and to say that I was devastated, would be an extreme understatement. How well I remember Dan! As his guidance counselor at St. Rose High School, I enjoyed our meetings. What a sweet, young man with tremendous artistic talent! Valle/Roselle Family: Words cannot express how I feel right now. I cannot even begin to know what you must be going through, however I hope you can find some comfort in the fact that Dan truly inspired more people during his life than anyone I've ever met. He did his best to uphold his mission of spreading and encouraging art in every corner of his life. Dan used to make beautiful art and give it away every single day, to strangers and homeless people just to brighten their day! Dan would give people paper and tell them to draw a picture, even if they claimed not to be able to draw. Dan truly believed that no one should die with their art inside them. I want to encourage everyone who reads this to sit down and draw a picture in honor of Dan. It would mean more to him than anything else, I can assure you. If it makes you feel silly, then all the more reason to do it. I can't remember one single time that Dan was mean to anyone, or even in a bad mood. Which says a lot, because we spent all of our time together!! He lived and breathed hope, love, and peace for humans as well as animals, and was the most genuine person I've ever known. He filled my world with unconditional love that can never be forgotten. The connection that Dan and I shared is one of kindred spirits, and definitely will transcend this lifetime. Dan helped me in so many ways and was there for me during times that no one should ever have to see... He will forever live in my heart and the hearts of my children in whom I will do my best to instill these compassionate qualities. Dan called me when he heard I was pregnant because he was so excited for me! He also wrote to me in October after seeing pictures of my newborn baby to tell me how beautiful they were and how happy he was for me. I couldn't have asked for a better goodbye. I want to thank you all for opening your hearts and houses to me on many occasions and treating me like one of your own family. I have nothing but fond memories of us all together. Dan Valle was a dear friend to me. He was a genuinely beautiful and inspiring person. I have always thought of him as a brother since I first met him in 2002. I've never met someone so likable and true to themselves. Amazingly funny, original, and talented in so many areas. His inspiration will last forever.
