Obituary of Barbara Patterson
Barbara G. Patterson, 85, of Howell, died Thursday, Feb. 19, 2009, at Ocean Medical Center, Brick. Mrs. Patterson was born in Long Branch and had lived in Mount Vernon, N.Y., Marlboro and Freehold before settling in Howell in 1941. She retired as a bookkeeper for the Patterson Dairy Farm. Prior to that, she was a school bus driver for her brother-in-law Donald. Mrs. Patterson worked for the Board of Elections, Howell. She was a former member of the Farmingdale Grange. She was also a former member of the P.T.A. at the Griebling & Ardena Schools. Barbara was a member of the Ardena Baptist Church, a member of their Helping Hand Society and the church choir. She was also a former Sunday school teacher at the Church. She loved spending summers at the beach in Manasquan and was an avid Bill Elliot fan. Her life was her family and friends.
She was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, William M. Patterson, in 1990. Left to cherish precious memories are three sons and daughters-in-law, C. Robert "Bob" and Bonnie Patterson of New Holland, Pa., J. William "Ace" and Susan Patterson of Howell, and Carl R. and Laurie Anne Patterson of Howell; two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda A. and Charles Dabroski of Howell, and Barbara L. and Kyle Saker of Howell; seven grandchildren, Michelle Maghan and her husband Dale, Melissa Dabroski, Timothy Patterson and his wife Katie, Laura Patterson, Austin Patterson, Kendall Patterson, and Raymond Saker; a great-grandson, Dylan Maghan; a brother-in-law, Donald Patterson; a sister-in-law, Ruth Patterson; many nieces and nephews; dear friends, Theresa Godfrey, and Gloria Madge; and many loving neighbors.
Visiting hours will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22, 2009 at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township. Her funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 23, 2009 at Ardena Baptist Church, 593 Adelphia Road, Howell. Interment will follow in Ardena Baptist Church Cemetery.
