Obituary of Anne Batta
Anne S. "Nancy" Batta, 80, of Lavallette passed away on Monday, October 3, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in East Orange, raised in Livingston and resided in West Caldwell and Wall before settling here in 2000. Nancy was a homemaker and worked as a travel agent at Meyer & Waltner Travel Agency in Caldwell. Through the years, she was involved in Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, Junior Women's League, various parent organizations at Mt. St. Dominic Academy and Immaculate Conception H.S., Montclair, Confraternity of the Most Holy Rosary, CareGivers of Ocean County, the St. Vincent de Paul Society, and a volunteer for Simon's Soup Kitchen, Seaside Heights. Nancy was a former parishioner of St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Caldwell and then a member of St. Pio, Lavallette. She loved to travel, and enjoyed the art of ceramics, and flower gardening. Nancy was a faith-filled woman who treasured her family above all else.
She was predeceased by her parents, Edward and Evelyn Schneider; and two brothers, Edward Schneider and Charles Schneider. Nancy is survived by her husband of 58 years, Robert Batta; children, Lorraine Batta and her partner, Barbara Reu, of Marshfield, MA, Robert J. Batta and his wife, Lindsey, of Fairfax, VA, Joanne Nelson and her husband, Michael, of Farmingdale, Karen Yaegel and her husband, William, of Howell, Stephen Batta and his wife, Jennifer, of Howell and Jennifer Mehta and her husband, Neeraj, of Southport, CT; nineteen grandchildren; a great grandson; sister, Carol Brady and her husband, Rusty, of NY; two brothers, Peter Schneider and his wife, Kathy, of MA and Richard Schneider of VA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524) Freehold Township on Thursday, October 6, 2016 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home on Friday, October 7, 2016 at 9:30 AM for procession to her 10:45 AM Funeral Mass at the Church of St. Veronica, 4215 Route 9 North, Howell.
