Obituary of Angelina Bulbenko
Angelina Bulbenko of Burbank, CA passed away on her 87th birthday, Wednesday, November 2, 2016. She was born in Kharkiv, Ukraine in 1929. She and her family left Ukraine due to circumstances of World War II, staying at a displaced persons camp in Augsburg, Germany, where she finished high school. Her family moved to France, where Angelina completed a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry from the National Chemical Engineering Institute (Chimie Paris Tech). She, along with her parents, grandmother, aunt and cousin, immigrated to the United States in 1950 and lived in Brooklyn, NY.
Lina married George F. Bulbenko and they settled in Levittown, PA, where she lived for 25 years and raised two children. After their marriage ended in divorce, Angelina went to work as a chemist at Hydrocarbon Research in Trenton and Mobil Oil. During this time, she also earned a Master's Degree in Psychology from Rider University. Lina decided not to practice, however, and embarked on a new career path as a linguist, relocating to Columbia, MD in 1987 to teach Russian language. After retiring in 2010, and in failing health, she relocated again to California to live in the sunshine near her son.
Lina had great passion for life and adored the theater, music, ballet, opera and art. Her fierce love and dedication to her children, as well as her wit, wisdom, honesty and elegant presence in this world will be forever remembered.
She is survived by her son, Michael Bulbenko and his wife, Christina, of Burbank, CA; her daughter, Katherine Bulbenko and her husband, Tilman Globig of Weehawken, NJ; and her grandchildren, Larysa Bulbenko and Saskia Globig.
