Obituary of Alfonso Barba
Alfonso Barba, Jr., 81, of Freehold passed away at home surrounded by his family on Monday, May 21, 2012. Mr. Barba, affectionately called "Junior" by his closest loved ones and friends, was born, raised, and lived his whole life in Brooklyn, NY before retiring to Freehold in December, 1999. He retired after holding positions including Purchasing Manager at various service companies in NYC. Prior to that, Junior owned a limousine service in Brooklyn where he served on many of the weddings and funerals in Gravesend, Brooklyn. He was a parishioner of St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, Freehold Township and a former parishioner of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Brooklyn.
Junior was predeceased by his parents, Alfonso & Teresa Barba; two brothers, Rudolf and Ernest; and five sisters, Marie, Teresa, Anna, Elvira, and Connie. He is survived by his wife of fifty-one years, Antoinette "Ann" Barba; two sons, Alfonso Barba, III and his wife, Teresa of Freehold Township and Anthony Barba of Brooklyn; two daughters, Teresa Erlitz and her husband, David of Manalapan and Patricia Gorkhover and her husband, Aleksandr of Brooklyn; six grandchildren, Alfonso Barba, IV, Christina Barba, Anthony Barba, Jr., Becky Erlitz, Dana Erlitz, and Mark Gorkhover; a sister, Clara Pileggi of Brooklyn; and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Thursday, May 24, 2012 & Friday, May 25, 2012 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home on Saturday, May 26, 2012 at 7:00 AM for the procession to St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township, NJ for his 8:00 AM Funeral Mass. Interment to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Brooklyn, NY.
