Obituary of Maddalena Composto
Maddalena Composto, 95, of Freehold Township passed away peacefully in her sleep at Bartley Rehabilitation, Jackson, NJ. The youngest of six children, she was born in Sicily, Italy in the town of Milazzo. After surviving the horrors of World War II, Maddalena immigrated to the United States in 1966 at the age of 45 with her husband, Francesco, and seven children. She left behind her friends, family and beloved Milazzo to give her children a better life. Maddalena loved her family more than anything and enjoyed cooking, dressmaking and crocheting beautiful blankets for them. Maddalena was an exemplary role model, a strong and brave woman who will be missed by all those she leaves behind.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Francesco Composto in 1983. Maddalena is survived by her children, Vera Capone and her husband, Gaetano of Jackson, NJ Michael Composto and his wife, Suzanne of Staten Island, NY, Lena Rizzo and her husband, Giovanni of Freehold, NJ, Rosario Composto and his wife, Donna of Houston, TX, Gino Composto and his wife, Silvia of Somerset, NJ, Carmelo Composto and his wife, Annie of Freehold, NJ and Maria Composto of Brick, NJ; twenty three Grandchildren; twenty five Great Grandchildren and one expected in December; and one Great Great Grandchild due to arrive after the New Year.
Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township, NJ on Monday, November 21, 2016 from 3:00 to 9:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at 9:00 AM for the procession to her 10:00 AM Funeral Mass at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township, NJ.
