Obituary of Dolores LaVance

Dolores "Doris" LaVance (nee Hauck), 84, of Ocean Township, formerly of Spring Lake, passed away on Sunday, December 11, 2016 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. Born in Passaic, she moved to Wall Township with her family in 1947. Doris met her husband, Pete, while a student at Manasquan High School and they were married for 50 years before his death in 2005. Doris was a wife, mother, grandma and friend. She was a homemaker and worked as the bookkeeper for Pete LaVance & Sons, Neptune. Doris made jewelry and was a volunteer at the wildlife center in Florida. She was a member of the Allenwood General Store Saturday Breakfast Club and an honorary member of the American Legion Post 432, Spring Lake. She enjoyed spending the winter months in Punta Gorda, FL. Doris always put others first and will be deeply missed by all. She was predeceased by her husband, Pete; and two sisters. Doris is survived by her children, Peter LaVance and his wife, Angelica of Brick, Gayle LaVance of Ocean, and Richard LaVance of Port Charlotte, FL; her grandchildren, Peter, Jason, Cody and Jessyka; brother, William "Bud" Hauck and his wife, Audrey; and brother-in-law, John LaVance and his wife, Janice. Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524) Freehold Township on Friday, December 16, 2016 from 2:00 to 4:00 & 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her 10:00 AM funeral service on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Monmouth Memorial Park, Tinton Falls.
