Obituary of Janet Bonk

Janet Bonk, 60, of Farmingdale passed away after an extended illness on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 with her family by her side at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. She was born in Brooklyn, raised in the Dongan Hills section of Staten Island and had lived in Edison. She moved to Farmingdale last year. Janet received her bachelor's degree from SUNY at Geneseo and completed her Master's Degree at Jersey City College. She was a special education teacher for over thirty years in the Edison Township school system retiring in 2014 from the Herbert Hoover Middle School. Prior to that, Janet started teaching in Staten Island. Her hobbies included playing piano, and trips to Florida and Belmar Beach. Janet loved to travel and her family meant everything to her. She attended all her kids' basketball games and continued supporting her daughter's love of the game by attending the games she coached. Janet is survived by her husband of 35 years, Anthony Bonk of Farmingdale; two children, Jeffrey Bonk and his wife, Danielle of Hoboken, and Amy Bonk and her fiancé, Sean Field of Freehold Township; her grandson, Bradley; parents, John and Mickey Esposito of Lanoka Harbor; brother, John Esposito, Jr. and his wife, Kassi of Port Orange, FL; numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews; and her granddog, Myka. Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Friday, March 3, 2017 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at 9:00 AM on Saturday, March 4, 2017 for the procession to her 10:00 AM Funeral Mass at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 31 Asbury Avenue, Farmingdale. Interment will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Sayreville.
