Obituary of Eugene Sadowski

Eugene "Gene" T. Sadowski, 77, of Freehold Twp., NJ died on Friday, April 10, 2009 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank, NJ. Mr. Sadowski was born in Brooklyn, NY and had lived in Elmhurst, Queens and moved to Aberdeen, NJ in 1962, before settling in Howell Township twelve years ago. He was an Architectural Draftsman for the J.C. Penney Corporation, New York City until retiring in 2000. Mr. Sadowski was a former parishioner of St. Benedict's Catholic Church in Holmdel, NJ. He attended Pratt Institute and Columbia University. Gene served on the Aberdeen Township Board of Adjustment and Planning Board. Mr. Sadowski was a Councilman for sixteen years, twelve of those years as the Deputy Mayor. He served on the A.T.M.U.A. for five years. Gene is a member of the Keyport-Matawan Elks Lodge#2030. He worked for the Monmouth County Board of Elections. Mr. Sadowski was a member of the Bayshore Democratic Club, and was a director for nine years for the M.T.Y.A.A. Little League. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Barbara Sadowski of Freehold Twp., NJ; two sons and daughter-in-laws; Stephen and Kelly Sadowski of North Andover, Massachusetts, David and Kristine Sadowski of Tabernacle, NJ.; five grandchildren; one sister, Sonia Houlihan of Island Trees, NY. Visiting at Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Twp., NJ on Monday, April 13, 2009 from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Service at the Funeral Home on Monday, April 13, 2009 at 5:30 p.m. Private interment will take place at N.J. Veteran's Cemetery, Arneytown, NJ.
