Obituary of Vita O'Kane

Vita Carmela O'Kane, 75, of Jackson passed away on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Vita was born in New York City, raised in Clifton, and moved to Howell in 1989 before settling in Westlake Golf & Country Club Jackson in 2006. She was a graduate of Clifton High School and had worked as an administrative assistant for Cornell & Marony Accountants, Putnam Publishing and Ebasco Construction. A member of the St. Veronica's Choir for 15 years, Vita had a flair for crafts and was a great entertainer, known for planning fabulous parties. She was meticulous about her appearance and wouldn't dream of leaving the house without being impeccably dressed. The matriarch of the family, Vita was a great cook and baker who enjoyed nothing more than feeding people. Vita is survived by her husband of 55 years, Thomas M. O'Kane of Jackson; son, Thomas C. O'Kane of Edgewater; daughter, Laurie O'Kane and her husband, Roger Jachts of Manalapan; granddaughter, Taylor Jachts of Manalapan; and brother, Charles Triolo of Toms River. Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524) Freehold Township on Friday, May 19, 2017 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at the funeral home for the procession to her 12:00 Noon Funeral Mass at the Church of St. Veronica, 4215 Route 9 North, Howell. Interment is private.
