Obituary of John DeName
John T. DeName, 86, of Waretown, NJ passed away on Friday, June 2, 2017 at Southern Ocean Medical Center, Stafford, NJ. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, he lived in Marlboro, NJ with his wife, Chris DeName until they moved to Waretown, NJ after retirement. John was a cable communications technician with the New York City Fire Department, Staten Island for the majority of his career. An avid sports enthusiast, he enjoyed football, baseball, hockey and the horse races. John rooted for the New York Giants. He was also team manager for Old Bridge Little League. John traveled with his wife to many countries and took several cruises, including their yearly November trip to Aruba with friends from Canada, whom they met in Florida.
He was predeceased by ten brothers and one sister. John is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, E. Chris DeName of Waretown.
Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township, NJ on Monday, June 5, 2017 and Tuesday, June 6, 2017 from 1:00 to 4:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at 8:30 AM for the procession to his 9:30 AM Funeral Mass at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 935 Bennetts Mills Road, Jackson Township, NJ.
