Obituary of John Otlowski
John T. "Jack" Otlowski, 72, of Jackson passed away at home on Sunday, June 11, 2017 with family at his side. Born and raised in Perth Amboy, he lived in Monroe Township before moving to Jackson in 2000. A graduate of Perth Amboy High School, Jack received his Bachelor's Degree from West Virginia University. He had a passion for education and sports and incorporated both in his career. Jack was an 8th grade Social Studies and Science teacher at the McGuinness Middle School in Perth Amboy for 33 years. He brought his knowledge of sports strategies and techniques to the basketball court, coaching the Perth Amboy JV basketball team for more than 20 years. Jack was an active sports enthusiast, an avid golfer and bowler and a New York Giants season ticket-holder. He often traveled to Morgantown, WV, every Fall to support his beloved Mountaineers Football Team. He also enjoyed traveling and loved to cruise the islands with friends and family. Jack was most proud to be Pop Pop to his four grandchildren and was their biggest cheerleader in life. He will be remembered for his love of reading and education, involvement in sports and devotion to his friends and family.
Jack is survived by his wife of 50 years, the love of his life, Nancy Notaro Otlowski of Jackson whom he met when he was 14 years old. He is also survived by two daughters, Wendy Korinchak and her husband, Chris of Jackson, and Kelly Tunney of Cream Ridge; four grandchildren, Ryan, Morgan, Tyler and Erin; a sister, Nina Sofield of Freehold; a nephew and three nieces.
Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Thursday, June 15, 2017 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home on Friday, June 16, 2017 at 8:30 AM for the procession to his 9:30 AM Funeral Mass at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 935 Bennetts Mills Road, Jackson. Interment will follow in St. Mary of the Lake Cemetery, Lakewood. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Jack's name may be made to the Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer, 1111 Stewart Avenue, Bethpage, NY 11714.
