Obituary of Joseph Caltagirone
Joseph S. Caltagirone, Sr., 82, of Howell, passed away on Saturday, June 20, 2009 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune with his family at his side. Mr. Caltagirone was born in Hackensack and had lived in Elmwood Park before moving to Howell in 1946. He worked for the Rapp Egg Farm Hatchery for 16 years, he was the co-owner of Jocal Farms in Howell, and most recently worked as a driver for Puglisi Egg Distributors for 38 years, retiring in 2006. Mr. Caltagirone was a Navy Veteran serving during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He was the former President of the United Republican Club in Howell, and a former member of the Navy League of Monmouth County. Joseph was a parishioner of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, he was a member of the Howell Senior Citizens and was active in the Boy Scouts Troop #13 in Farmingdale with his sons as they were growing up.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 44 years, Beverly Caltagirone of Howell; Two sons, Joseph Caltagirone Jr., of Farmingdale, and John Raymond Caltagirone of Neptune; Two Sisters, Faye Thompson of Gilbert, AZ and Anna Mae Suozzo of Italy; Four nieces, Wendy Caporaso, Judy Cooper, Katrina Brattel, and Melissa Papadopolo and two nephews, Wayne Thompson and Marc W. Suozzo.
Visiting at Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Rd. (Route 524) , Freehold Township on Monday, June 22, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Relatives and friends may gather at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 23, 2009, at 8:30 a.m. for his rite of committal, followed by his 9:30 a.m. funeral mass at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Chapel, Main Street, Farmingdale, NJ.
