Obituary of Howard Conk
Howard "Popeye" E. Conk, 76, of Freehold Township, passed away Tuesday, June 23, 2009, at The Manor, Freehold Township. Mr. Conk was born in Lakewood and was a lifelong resident of Freehold Township. He worked at John Iron Salvage for over 20 years, retiring in 1984.
Mr. Conk was predeceased by his wife, Joan; a son, Anthony; and a grandson, Christopher. He is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Howard and Eileen Conk of Jackson, Eddie and Kim Conk of Pine Beach, and John and Frances Conk of Farmingdale; a daughter and son-in-law, Tina and Russ Clark of Jackson; a daughter-in-Law, Denise Conk of Toms River; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Abram and Edwin Conk, both of Freehold Township; a sister, Earlene Gordon of Freehold Township; and an aunt, Leona Haviland of Wall.
Visiting will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, June 26 at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, June 27 at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Harmony Cemetery, Jackson.
