Obituary of Jonathan Algor
Jonathan "Jack" Algor, Jr., 73, of Toms River, passed away Friday, June 26, 2009, at Van Dyke Hospice and Palliative Care Center, Toms River. Mr. Algor was born in South Belmar, had lived in Spring Lake Heights and Goode, VA before moving to Toms River in 2001. He was a Lineman First Class with Jersey Central Power and Light, Point Pleasant for 32 years, retiring in 1995. Mr. Algor was a member and ex-chief of the Independent Fire Company, Spring Lake Heights. He was a long time member of the Jersey Shore Firemen's Bowling League. Mr. Algor was also a former member of the NJ National Guard.
He is survived by his wife, Ginny Megill Algor; three sons and daughters-in-law Jonathan Algor III and his wife Marcy of East Islip, Long Island, Michael Algor and his wife Gigi of Howell and Jeffrey Algor and his wife Kathleen of Spring Lake Heights; one daughter and son-in-law Kim Popek and her husband Michael of Toms River; a sister Barbara Haytock of Miami, FL; Eight grandchildren Jonathan Algor IV and his wife Monica, Justin Algor and his fiancé Farabe, Michael Algor, Jeffrey Algor, MJ Popek, Jenny Algor, Taylor Algor, and Jake Algor; one great grandson Jonathan Algor V.
The family will receive friends and relatives on Wednesday, July 1, 2009 from 7:00 to 8:30 PM at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township, with a memorial service to follow at 8:30 PM at the funeral home with the Rev. Brian Eble officiating. Final disposition is private. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions, in memory of Jack, may be made to the Van Dyke Hospice, 99 Highway 37 West, Toms River, NJ 08755, and would be appreciated.
