Obituary of Cecil Bastian
Cecil W. Bastian, 92, of Freehold, passed away Sunday, July 12, 2009, at home, under the care of Hospice. Mr. Bastian was born in Jamestown, N.Y. and was a lifelong resident of Freehold. Mr. Bastian was a graduate of Tri-State University, Indiana. He was an engineer with the U.S. Army Signal Corps at Fort Monmouth and Camp Evans until his retirement in 1972. Mr. Bastian was a lifelong amateur radio enthusiast and a former member of the civil defense and the Boy Scouts of America.
Mr. Bastian is survived by his wife, Sally Bastian; a son, William Morgenstern of Jamestown, N.Y.; two daughters, Lynda Campbell of Bristol, R.I., and Susan Borden of Allenhurst; three stepdaughters, Deanna Greenwood of Tinton Falls, Sharon Sickler of Allentown, Pa., and Nancy Maphis of Bethlehem, Pa.; 17 grandchildren; and many great grandchildren.
Visiting will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 15 at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township. Friends and relatives are invited to attend his 11 a.m. funeral service on Thursday, July 16 at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold.
