Obituary of David Smith

David W. Smith, 93, of Colts Neck, passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2009 at home. Mr. Smith was born in West Long Branch, raised in Glen Rock and had lived in Shrewsbury before settling to Colts Neck. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in World War II as a pilot in the Air Corp. Mr. Smith retired as a machinist at Fort Monmouth. He was a life long marksman and a member of the Old Brick Reformed Church, Marlboro. Mr. Smith was predeceased by his wife, Ruth and a sister, Grace Baker. He is survived by one sister, Jeanette and her husband G. Herbert Schneider of Ramsey; his nieces, Leslie, Suzanne and Linda; his nephews, John, David and Grant, and many great nieces and nephews. Visiting at Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Rd., (Route 524) Freehold Township on Wednesday, July 29 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at the funeral home on Thursday, July 30 at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Old Brick Reformed Church Cemetery, Marlboro.
