Obituary of Richard Soltz

Richard A Soltz, 58, of Howell, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2009, at home. Mr. Soltz was born, raised and had lived in Brooklyn, N.Y., moving to Howell in 1990. He was a tractor trailer driver for Federal Express, Newark for 24 years, retiring in 2008. Prior to that, Mr. Soltz was a cab driver in Manhattan for 10 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in Vietnam. Mr. Soltz ran in three New York Marathons, 1981, 1982 and 996. He also ran in six Philadelphia Marathons. Mr. Soltz was a supporter of the Monmouth County SPCA and a friend of Bill W. He was also an avid Steelers Fan. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Zoilita Soltz of Howell; a stepson, Christopher Boyle of Howell; a daughter, Marisa Soltz of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; and a brother, David Soltz of Philadelphia, Pa. Visiting will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 13 at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township. Friends and relatives are invited to attend his funeral service Friday, Aug. 14 at the funeral home; time to be announced. Entombment will follow in St. Mary of the Lake Cemetery, Lakewood. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Richard's memory may be made to either the Monmouth County SPCA, 260 Wall St., Eatontown, NJ 07724, or to the American Cancer Society, 801 Broad St., Shrewsbury, NJ 07702-4201 and would be appreciated.
