Obituary of Carrie Newell

Carrie B. Newell, 50, of Howell Township passed away on Sunday, August 16, 2009 at University of Pennsylvania Hospital, Philadelphia. Carrie was born in East Orange, raised in Howell Township and lived in Tottenville, Staten Island before returning to Howell in 2003. She was a Freehold Township High School Graduate and received her BS in Special Education and MA in Administration from Georgian Court University. Carrie was a Special Education Teacher at Freehold Township High School, where she began her teaching career. Prior, she was a teacher, then Principle at Our Lady Help of Christians, Tottenville, Staten Island. She was predeceased by her father, Michael Dowd. Carrie is survived by her beloved husband of 23 years, Edward Newell; two loving daughters, Meghan and Shannon Newell of Howell Township; her adoring mother and step-father, Patricia & Phil Brunner of Manasquan; her devoted brother, Michael Dowd of Salisbury, VT and dear sisters, Tracy Mandara of Howell Township, Megan Dowd Gally of Lakewood, and Moira Adams of Howell Township; and many loving nieces and nephews. Visiting at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township, NJ on Thursday, August 20, & Friday, August 21, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Rite of Committal at the funeral home on Saturday, August 22, at a time to be announced followed by her Funeral Mass at a place to be announced. Interment will be private.
